Options, options, options

We’re in the process of onboarding an exciting new customer - a lighting manufacturer based just a stone’s throw away from the lovely Staffordshire, in none other than NSW, Australia…

OK, we admit it, onboarding a customer on the other side of the world is a task in itself, but our process and commitment doesn’t change – to provide businesses with their very own BOSS (Business Operating System as a Service) system and integrate seamlessly into their teams and continuously exceed expectations.

In this case in particular, one of the biggest challenges being faced in their business was the fact that a lot of their products are sourced from Europe and shipped via different transport methods into Australia. Goods are transported into the country via air or sea, depending on how quickly they are required, which meant there was a variance in the ‘landed cost’ for the exact same SKU.

What is a SKU? A SKU, or ‘Stock Keeping Unit’ is a unique code consisting of letters and numbers that identify characteristics about each product, such as Manufacturer, Model, Colour, Size etc.

Queue, our latest release – Product Options. This latest addition to our Inventory Management solution, allows the same Product to have a series of options applied, that don’t impact the specification or SKU, but apply a cost and sale price override based on things like Freight Costs, Personalisation (like engraving etc.) or any other amendment that doesn’t dictate a change in SKU.

Image above showing Product Options available within a SKU, in this case Freight and Length are the options available which can be Price Adjusted by Value, Percentage or a complete price Override.

The release of Product Options, complements another recent update to our Inventory Management tool that also now supports ‘Add-Ons’, allowing a secondary item to be bolted onto a parent item – such as a Mobile Phone, with an additional Screen Protector or Case. As well as this, from our Inventory Dashboard, businesses are able to accurately and efficiently manage product catalogues, physical stockholding and stock journals, parts and consumables, stocktaking and warehouse stock locations.
